Joe - You can easily check if you petcock (fuel tap in England)is blocked. Gently pull the fuel pipe off the carb after loosening the clip. Then hold the pipe over on old can and switch the fuel tap to Prime. Fuel should flow through the pipe. If not,the tap is blocked. Note that fuel will not flow with the fuel tap set to On or Res until the engine is running.
By the way, what is an SO who was riding the bike?
